Jana Whiting has always had a love for traveling and eating her way through Europe. The little cafes with fresh croissants, baguettes, and other bakery items across European cities inspired her and her husband to open Beaumont Bakery three years ago. They wanted to create a place where they could go that had a little taste of Europe. Their opening was quite untraditional. They initially opened the drive-thru only and they did not have any signage on the building nor a working phone line for the restaurant. This didn’t stop them from gaining a substantial amount of business from loyal customers to first timers alike. After a year of doing drive-thru and curbside pickup, they officially opened their full service, dine-in restaurant.
Beaumont Bakery’s complete menu is made fresh, in-house, every day. The founder, Jana, comes up with flavor profiles and then develops all the recipes. She has a knack for pulling together unsuspected ingredients that create the tastiest savory dishes, sweets, & baked goods. It is a trial-and-error process to get the recipe perfect. Jana told us, “We always learn the most from the things that don’t work out. The failures within the success are the best because you learn more that way. Every day is exciting.”
Unlike many others, Beaumont was fortunate enough to know what to do when COVID hit. They went back to business just as they had when they started out. A drive-thru and curbside only restaurant. They knew how to do it and how to do it well. They say that was one of the biggest blessings for them. The biggest challenge they faced was their turnaround time from when an order was placed to when it was ready. Since everything is made to order and from scratch, fulfilling the orders took time. It took them a while to figure out how to efficiently speed up the process without sacrificing their mission of always serving fresh, high quality foods.
Additionally, they have exciting news. Beaumont Bakery will be opening a second location in the same shopping center where they will wholly focus on baked goods. It will be a true bakery with items including crusty breads like sourdough, tarts, cakes, croissants. The current space is just not big enough to have a full-size bakery. Jana said they plan to open this summer. They are also working to open another location in Sandy in late Fall of this year! Stay tuned!!
